WORK

Nice to meet you :D

I’m Biara, a brazilian graphic designer, specialized in creating bold, colorful and mixed media illustrations.

Graduated in Industrial Design (UFSM), I’m driven by designs that connect emotionally and stand out visually.

I also love running half marathons, watching drag reality shows, wandering down new streets just to admire the houses, scanning interesting textures, laughing with friends, watching movies with my girlfriend, and reminiscing over old family stories.
If I can call myself a graphic designer and illustrator today, it’s because I once spent hours playing with imaginary friends, loved to watch and recreate cartoon characters, and, in school, was always the one volunteering to visually organize presentations. As a teenager, I spent hours online absorbing visual trends that I’d later translate into decorating notebooks with collages from my favorite magazines. Basically “ever since I was a little girl I just knew I wanted to be chilling on the computer a lot”. Turns out all of those interests were actually a glimpse into my future career.
Later, in college, I had the opportunity to explore a whole new universe within design. From basic color theory classes to advanced laboratories including: photography, signage, packaging, typography, user interface, and illustration, I soaked up every lesson, exchange, and experience. This journey helped me realize that graphic design, with its multitude of visually expressive possibilities, was the main area I felt most drawn to.
Soon after, I engaged in a few internships, starting at a printing company, then in an internal communication team, and finally at a multimedia studio. These experiences allowed me to put my knowlegde into practice by exploring a variety of roles, such as designing press kits and visual identities, creating storyboards and developing motion graphics. Each project gave me new perspectives and helped me understand the dynamics of collaborating with other professionals, managing deadlines, understanding customer and user needs, and adapting creativity to real world demands.
Based on my passion for illustrations in every form they can be presented, at the same period, I also initiated my freelance journey as an aspiring tattoo artist and muralist. Unfortunately, I didn’t pursue the tattoo artist path due to the pandemic that began shortly after. Even though my illustration style still reflects a lot of influence from this period. On the other hand, I kept working on murals, and one accomplishment I’m really proud of is a graffiti I did at a local shopping center, so huge I had to use ladders and scaffolds.
After I graduated, I made the intentional choice to continue my path as a freelance professional. I knew this decision would come with challenges, but I embraced them with resilience. Besides staying connected to my essence, freelancing allows me to shape my path, collaborate with diverse people, and work on projects that spark curiosity and joy.

I’m always excited about new collaborations, so if my creative approach speaks to you, please feel free to reach out ;)

And let’s embark on a creative journey!
